The arrival of Arabs in Iran is one of the biggest changes in Iranian history that happened in the seventh century A.D.This Arab presence in Iran has caused great changes in the history, art architecture, and culture of Iranian. The construction of new majestic mosques by Iranian architects created a new style of architecture called Iranian mosques, which was in front of simple Arabic mosques.

The Sassanid Empire
Sassanid rule or Sassanid Empire was the strongest independent Iranian Empire after the Achaemenids dynasty.  The Sassanids founded an empire inside the borders that were made by the Achaemenids, with the capital at Ctesiphon. They deliberately and cleverly developed the Achaemenid culture in Iran and tried to erase Greek cultural influence.

The first Iranian independent government which was established under the Seleucid rule (250 B.C.), is called Arsacid Dynasty in the Persian language because the name of their first king was Arsac. After unifying their power the Parthian kings expelled the Seleucid rulers and built a new big Iranian empire, the sixth in size in the ancient world. The only enemy during their rule was Rome. The Parthian dynasty was governed by 29 Kings and about 470 years.

In his world-conquering campaign, Alexander hoped for the fruitful union of the Europeans with the people of the Middle East. In his effort to reach this goal, he encouraged the massive settlement of Greek and Macedonian soldiers in Mesopotamia and Iran. Trying to establish strong bonds with the Iranian nobility,  Alexander married Roxana, daughter of the most powerful of the Bactrian chiefs, and required 80 of his top officers and 10,000  of his soldiers to marry Persian women in a mass wedding in Susa.

The Achaemenid Empire

The Achaemenid Empire (550 BC - 230 BC)
The greatest Iranian Empire or Achaemenid Empire starts about 550 B.C. The great Cyrus was the founder of it and was a descendant of the Achaemenid family. He selected Susa, the ancient capital of Ilam, as his capital.  This government is known as the cradle of Asian civilization in the ancient world. He captured different lands and expanded his Empire rapidly.
